This gave me a good laugh. I well recall telling a potential supplier that, "Knocking another £50 of the price of the machine will not buy my business. I need to know what service you will give when the machine fails. If I don't pay you enough - then you cannot give me good service. Goodbye."
I was talking about the, then, rapidly expanding market in fax machines in 1987. Of course, The Conservative govt proved this point throughout the 80s and 90s, as they decimated public services. Oh and Blair has continued that fashion.
