IBM and Indian outsourcing companies have won five-year contracts to manage and run BP's enterprise applications.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed in a statement but oil and gas giant BP is handing out multiple IT contracts in a move to improve business processes.
IBM maintains it won the largest chunk of the contract and appears to be responsible for SAP maintenance across BP, as well as the company's integrated services desk.
BP CIO Dana Deasy said in a statement that IBM was selected as a strategic vendor for SAP maintenance and system development. Consultancy and outsourcing company Accenture had touted running BP's SAP apps, which essentially run the oil company. Accenture will maintain SAP development responsibility.
BP spent the last year consolidating its IT vendors for application development and maintenance.
Other winners of the BP deal include Indian outsourcing company Infosys, which says it "will manage and operate a large portion of business systems for BP".
Tata Consultancy Services was named a strategic IT vendor by BP. In a statement, Tata touted its capabilities in the energy vertical. Wipro also said it would be a strategic vendor for BP's application plans.
