Multinational engineering and design firm Atkins has signed a £13.7m IT outsourcing deal with Capgemini.

The five-year contract will see Capgemini provide IT infrastructure and corporate applications for finance, human resources and payroll departments and renews an IT outsourcing contract dating back to 2001.

The deal will help Atkins streamline business processes, cut costs and improve customer service.

Capgemini employees in service centres in London and Woking will carry out the work, with a dedicated team of IT staff also working on-site at Atkins' offices.

Earlier this month Atkins was appointed the official engineering design services provider for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
