A further eight NHS bodies have signed on with NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS), an outsourcing joint venture between the Department of Health and Steria.

NHS SBS will supply the eight organisations - which include NHS Nottingham City, Trafford Healthcare NHS Trust and Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust - with services including finance, accounting and payroll.

The deal, worth £12m, covers payroll services for 25,000 NHS staff.

NHS SBS is now used by around 30 per cent of NHS bodies, according to the outsourcing venture.

Seventeen NHS organisations have signed deals with NHS SBS since April this year, the organisation said. In December last year, a further 12 bodies inked agreements worth £13.8m with NHS SBS.
